SAFARI CLUB INTERNATIONAL

We're one chapter. SCI is the network.

Safari Club International is the world’s leading hunting rights and conservation organization — and our chapter is one of nearly 150 that carry the mission forward at the local level.

Safari Club International: defending the freedom to hunt

Safari Club International (SCI) is the only hunting rights organization with a Washington, D.C.–based national and international advocacy team. It’s also the only one with an all-species focus. From its headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, and its Hunters’ Embassy in Washington, D.C., SCI mobilizes nearly 150 chapters and affiliate networks. Together, they represent millions of hunters worldwide. Its mission is straightforward: defend the freedom to hunt, and promote sustainable-use wildlife conservation across the globe.

So where does our chapter fit? Think of SCI as the national voice and the chapters as the local hands. When SCI fights an import ban or an anti-hunting bill, chapter members make the calls and show up at hearings. Meanwhile, chapters raise money that supports SCI’s work. For example, membership dues help fund SCI’s advocacy team in Washington. Likewise, our fundraiser sends local students to the American Wilderness Leadership School, an SCI Foundation program.

In return, members get SCI’s full set of resources, from the Record Book to the annual convention. Our own certified scorers can even measure your trophy for the Record Book locally. In short, joining our chapter means joining SCI, and that membership works in both directions.

Want the details? The Safari Club International website covers current advocacy campaigns, convention dates and member benefits. It’s also where members renew and register for the convention. Meanwhile, the sections below summarize what the national organization does and which resources members use most.

What SCI Does at the National and Global Level

Federal Advocacy

SCI's advocacy team works in Washington to oppose international hunting import bans, defend Second Amendment rights, and ensure science-based wildlife policy at every federal agency.

Legal Advocacy

When anti-hunting groups go to court, SCI's legal team is there. SCI has been party to dozens of landmark cases protecting hunters' rights.

State, Local, and International Advocacy

From statehouse fights over hunting access to international treaty negotiations affecting trophy importation, SCI engages at every level where hunting policy is made.

Conservation & Education

Through SCI and the SCI Foundation, the organization funds wildlife research, habitat work, the American Wilderness Leadership School (AWLS), the Sensory Safari program, and a global record-keeping system for big game.
